Jamie joined The AA in November 2024 as part of the Trainee Patrol Programme and progressed to RSA Patrol in June 2025. He is now enrolled on the RSA to RSS conversion course, with his first session beginning on 30 April 2026. Before joining The AA, Jamie worked as a bricklayer after completing a two-year apprenticeship at 16, followed by four years on new-build housing projects. Wanting to turn a long-standing hobby into a career, he made the move into the motor industry.
Much of Jamie’s mechanical experience comes from his time in stock car racing, where maintaining and repairing his own cars between races taught him how to work quickly, think practically and solve problems under pressure. He raced a heavily modified Vauxhall Nova hot rod and also took part in banger racing, where constant suspension repairs and last-minute fixes became part of the challenge. He also gained early workshop experience by helping at a local family-run garage on days when weather prevented site work, assisting with servicing and minor vehicle repairs.
Jamie sees his progression at The AA as his proudest achievement to date. In just 17 months, he has gone from Trainee Patrol to starting the RSS conversion course, despite joining without formal mechanical qualifications. Outside work, Jamie enjoys cooking, running, golf and watching Formula 1. He has recently signed up for a half marathon, still enjoys following stock car racing, and loves travelling, driving and exploring new places.
